I hired David to help update my newly purchased mid-century modern home, reconfiguring the space to better suit my lifestyle and aesthetic. He creatively redesigned the living spaces to flow together more efficiently, all without compromising the home’s original character. When you find your perfect property, choosing the partners who will help craft it into your dream home becomes a massive responsibility. There are so many things that can go wrong. And when that property is a 1750s farmhouse with historic meaning in the community, the burden can be paralyzing. But of the thousands of decisions large and small that we made during the course of a year-long renovation, the one decision we have never questioned was choosing David Boronkay of Slocum Hall Design Group as our architect. We researched and interviewed, hounded friends and strangers for referrals, and pored over Internet portfolios, and still have never wished we had chosen differently. David served as guide, expert, confidante, educator, troubleshooter, and source for all manner of unique fixtures. He directed the contractors by speaking their language (and translated for us), saw around corners for potential issues and helped us avoid traps for the unwary. Most importantly, he maximized the natural beauty and comfort of the house. If we ever have to do it again (please, no!), he is the first call we will make.
My husband and I prefer the look and construction of older homes. David brought our home into the modern times while honoring the look and feel of our 1912 Tudor. He was responsive, always professional, and found the perfect balance between listening to what we needed/wanted and what he felt was the right thing to do. Our general contractor loved working with him and it was clear that communication between David and our builder was clear and positive. We tease him that we will find projects to do in the house just to have the excuse to work with him again!!!
