A Place to Call Your Own

October 28, 2022

They say home is where the heart is. It is the place from which you grow your life, where friends and family come together, a retreat from the outside world. The kitchen, the center of the home, is a place for gathering, entertaining and sharing a meal; the living area is perfect for hanging out, watching your favorite show, or playing a game; but the primary bedroom space is something entirely different – it is an escape from all that – a place to call your own.

We’ve designed some amazing primary sanctuaries over the years – here are two of our favorites.

This new design re-invents the Prairie Style made famous by architect Frank Lloyd-Wright. The objective of this new build was to create a modern space that incorporates the architectural elements of the Prairie Style, with features like large windows that marry the indoors to the outdoors. In this primary suite, a long corridor covered in antique mirror leads the homeowner into the space, flooded with abundant light. His and hers closets and bathrooms line the hallway, making it the ultimate escape from the rest of the home.

The primary suite on the second level of this historical renovation was formerly a 5-room suite with a sitting room, sleeping chamber, sleeping porch, bathroom, and closet that was simplified. The sitting and sleeping rooms were combined to create a large bedroom. The bathroom, which used to be the sleeping porch, is now a beautiful marble space with a view of Downtown Boston, and the Dressing Room was previously the Bathroom and Closet for the space.
