Winter Escapes

Ask your friends and family members how they each would describe the perfect winter escape and you’ll get as many answers as there are people on your list. For some, it’s as simple as escaping for a few hours to a space in your home, somewhere that reminds you of comfort, warmth, and coziness. For some, it’s channeling your inner snow bunny, escaping further north to your favorite winter wonderland. Still, for others, a winter escape is quite literally an escape from the cold, often as far south as possible. 

At Slocum Hall, we’ve worked on projects that embody all three. 

Our Wellesley Sports Barn & Guest House

In Wellesley, MA, one family wanted to escape winter by staying at home. The design of their “Lodge Room” pays homage to one of their favorite Vermont hotels. The result is a cozy and inviting structure complete with exposed wood, an exquisite stone fireplace, plenty of seating, and a custom bar for entertaining.  

Our Residence On West Ridge

In Stowe, VT, our clients were looking to escape to a getaway spot for their family – cue a wonderful three-story home with stunning views of the snow-covered mountains. We created an airy space, perfect for a family that takes full advantage of the picturesque views, capturing the very essence of a winter escape. 

Our Twins Palm Villa

For those who wish to escape from the cold fully, we’ll take you to the warmth of Jamaica. Our clients at the Twin Palms Villa envisioned a pool space that created a better connection to the main living quarters. The complex consists of three components; the main pool below and two secondary basins that serve as a hot tub and a kids’ pool. The secondary elements connect to the main pool via tiered pie-shaped soaking baths, which act as waterfalls from the upper pools into the main infinity-edge pool. The result of this project is ultimate relaxation, with stunning views, as far away from the brutal New England winter weather as possible.
