Freedom Lakehouse New Hampshire

When our clients purchased their lakefront New Hampshire property, it had two dilapidated cottages on it. The larger of the cottages sat on the edge of the lake, where constructing a new structure would no longer be permitted with current zoning regulations. Leana Taft worked with the owners to reimagine the interior and exterior, maintaining the grandfathered footprint of the original cottage.

The second cottage was torn down and rebuilt as a new garage and guest house. The first floor contains the garages, an office and a full bath, while the second floor has two bedrooms and living quarters for guests. There is also a small sleeping loft for kids.

The Lakeside main structure features an open plan with soaring ceilings. All the major spaces afford sweeping views of the water, and feature elegant, modern finishes and furnishings – also selected and executed by Leana. The double height glass wall and second floor catwalk provide the dramatic impact the owners were seeking.
