Modern Farmhouse on Beaver Weston, MA
8,000 square foot Modern Farmhouse in Weston, MA
When we were hired to design this residence, our client had not yet settled on a particular architecture style. He had a vision of how he and his daughters would live in the space and how he wanted it to feel – large and inviting spaces for family gatherings and ten-foot ceiling on all three floors.
The main floor has a large open kitchen, eating and family room with a coffered and v-groove ceiling and ledgestone fireplace imparting a contemporary farmhouse aesthetic. The living room was designed with an expansive wall of bi-folding glass doors, bringing the natural beauty of the landscape inside. Our first sketch of the exterior was very similar to the finished product you see here. The simple lines of the farmhouse aesthetic appealed to the owner’s sensibilities, and adding embellishments such as standing-seam metal roofed awnings and the wrap-around front porch to break up the massing, helped bring a more human scale to the large structure.
This amazing residential architect project also included the interior design of the home, selecting all the finishes and furnishings.
